Artist Statement
Keith Wahl is a Las Vegas‑based acrylic artist whose work blends anime, manga, and comic‑book influences into bold, expressive acrylic paintings. His focus is character‑driven storytelling — capturing emotion, attitude, and personality through dynamic poses, saturated color, and confident linework.
Working primarily with acrylic paint, Keith builds each piece by hand, layering color and texture to create a sense of movement and depth that feels alive on the page. His style is instantly recognizable: vibrant palettes, sharp contrasts, and a strong narrative presence in every character.
Keith's portfolio includes original paintings, fan‑art interpretations, celebrity‑gifted pieces, and works featured at conventions across the country. His goal is simple — to create art that connects with people, sparks excitement, and celebrates the characters and stories that inspire him.

"Darkness" Character: Darkness Universe: Legend Size: 12" x 16" Medium: Acrylic markers on canvas Status: Original — sold, no longer available This painting is a tribute to Tim Curry — to a man who sat in a makeup chair for ten hours and came out the other side as something unforgettable. Created as a personal reflection on the rise of AI‑generated imagery, this piece explores the irreplaceable nuance, emotion, and intentionality found in human‑made acrylic painting. |
"Gotham's Shadow" A spray‑paint profile portrait of Batman on stretched canvas, rendered with a subdued, gritty atmosphere that reflects the character's resilience and grounded intensity. |
|
A pair of companion paintings featuring half‑face portraits of Vegeta and Goku. Each piece stands on its own, but together they form a unified concept that highlights the contrast and shared strength between the two Saiyan characters. |
|
An acrylic portrait of Rebecca from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, rendered in explosive neon hues that amplify her volatile charm and fearless Night City energy. Her teal skin, crimson eyes, and electric green twin‑tails blaze against a saturated pink backdrop, capturing the hyper‑stylized chaos that defines her character. |
"Echoes of Self" Acrylic portrait of Major Motoko Kusanagi gazing upward through a downpour, her expression caught between reflection and resolve. The rain streaks across her face and violet hair, merging with the neon‑lit cityscape behind her — a moment of quiet humanity within the cold precision of a cybernetic world. |

He wasn't just a character. He was the voice that told an entire generation what a hero sounds like — steady, certain, and kind even when the weight of everything was on his shoulders. This piece is a tribute to Peter Cullen and the Optimus Prime he gave us: rendered in acrylic marker on an 8" x 10" canvas, painted with the same care and reverence the man himself brought to every single performance.
For every kid who heard that voice and stood a little straighter. For every parent who got choked up at a convention. This one's for him. This one found its home.

Before CGI ruled every screen, a man sat in a makeup chair for ten hours and became a nightmare. Blood-red skin. Three-foot horns. Eyes that never belonged in this world. Tim Curry didn't just play Darkness — he became him.
This one's for everyone who watched Legend and never forgot what true menace looked like. This one found its home.
